About Us
828 Fitness Huntly is a proud, family-run business owned by Luressa and Iain Macdonald. Iain is a full-time New Zealand Firefighter, while Luressa dedicates herself full-time to running 828 Fitness. Their daughters, Tamieka and Jade, are also actively involved in the day-to-day operations, making 828 Fitness truly a family affair.
Health, fitness, and overall wellbeing have always been at the heart of the Macdonald family’s lifestyle. These values have not only shaped their own lives but have been lovingly passed on to their daughters. Together, they are passionate about creating a positive, supportive space where others can improve their health and feel part of a welcoming community.
As long-time residents of Huntly, Luressa and Iain are deeply committed to their town. It’s a privilege for their family to provide a fitness hub that brings people together, promotes healthy living, and strengthens community connections.
Whether you’re taking your first steps on a fitness journey or looking for a place to challenge yourself, you’ll find a supportive and family-friendly environment waiting for you at 828 Fitness Huntly.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals!
Hayley Robinson
Gym Consultant
Hey, I’m Hayley!
I’ve always had a strong passion for health and wellbeing, which led me to complete my Diploma in Nutrition.
I'm now working towards my Level 4 Personal Training qualification and couldn’t be more excited to be part of the 828Fitness team.
I love being active—netball is my go-to sport, and with rugby running in the family, a love for fitness is definitely in my blood.
I'm all about supporting others on their wellness journey and creating a positive, empowering environment for everyone.
Mike (Big Mack) Mackay
Personal Trainer & Powerlifting Coach
Kia ora everyone,
I’m Mike, and my fitness journey began in the mid-90s through playing multiple sports and coaching junior footy. After retiring from sport in 2003, I found a new passion in the gym.
I joined 828 Fitness Huntly shortly after it opened, and not long after that, I had the privilege of coaching a small group of lifters at the Outlaw Deadlift-Only Comp in Te Awamutu. Since then, our crew — Team 828 All or Nothing — has grown from 5 to 12 incredible lifters.
Powerlifting isn’t about a specific body type — it’s about good technique, consistency, and commitment. If you’re keen to give it a go or learn more, come have a chat.
“Bars always loaded” “stay in the grind.”
