Meet Tamieka Macdonald
Hi, I’m Tamieka Macdonald (Mieks), a Qualified Personal Trainer based here in Huntly. I’m currently in my second year of studying a Diploma in Sports Science at Wintec, and I also have experience leading group fitness sessions here at 828.
My own fitness journey started back in high school, and what really drives me as a trainer is helping people push through the challenges they’ve been facing on their own. I love seeing people fall in love with exercise like I have and helping them find their own rhythm with health and wellbeing.
I work with clients of all fitness levels—as long as you’re willing to put in the effort, I’m here to put in the work for you. My training style is supportive, passionate and organised, because I want you to get the best results possible. When you train with me, you can expect customised programs, technique coaching, and ongoing motivation.
I offer both one-on-one sessions and small group training for 2 to 4 people, creating a positive and encouraging environment to help you reach your goals.
One of my proudest moments was competing in a bodybuilding competition. It came with its own mental challenges, especially after the comp, but I’ve learned how to find balance in my life and help others do the same.
Outside of the gym, I love spending time with family and friends—I believe having your people to support you on your journey is very important. I’m also a big foodie and enjoy cooking as well as exploring local restaurants and cafes.

Meet Jerome Tairua (JT)
Kia ora, my name is Jerome Tairua. Having been in the fitness industry for over 15 years I’d say my main skill-set is fitness conditioning. I use high intensity training sessions (40mins) to challenge the body each time and produce solid, measurable results. My secondary skill-set is injury rehabilitation, predominantly from overcoming personal injuries with my own body, hah!
My roles in the industry have included, gym owner, corporate fitness coach, contracted fitness trainer overseas (Australia and Thailand), Fitness bootcamps, Boxfit training and more.
If you’re wanting a coach to motivate you into getting in the best shape of your life, I’m certain I can be that.
